Strengthening Community-based child protection systems (within the COVID-19 context) to support child victims of extreme physical and mental violence in the North West Region of Cameroon

Main achievements :

Through this project, CES has :

  • Trained 4 social workers and 4 animators in the different divisions and sub-divisions of the North West Region to provide Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support (MHPSS) to 83 children who have undergone severe mental and physical violence in the North West Region.
  • Provided birth certificates and ID cards to 200 children who have undergone severe mental and physical violence
  • Reintegrated 50 Children Associated with Armed Forces and Armed Groups (CAAFAG), provided reintegration kits and economic empowerment packages.
  • 4 community youth clubs were created to foster social cohesion of this group of ex fighters in the North West Region. The following activities were provided in the youth clubs: football, handball, arts and painting kits were provided to facilitate the clubs activities.
